Well I have had Hemorrhoids on and off for about 2 years now, the latest batch has not gone away for about 4 months. Now I have a Pilonidal Cyst which is extremely painful and I am going to the GP on monday for it. What should I tell the GP if I think I already know what it is, due to the embarresing nature of it I dont really want to show it to the GP.

Also are they linked? I had a fever last week which lasted about 5 days, then this happened. At first I had great discomfort sitting down, there was great pain in the top part of my bottom crack, and I thought it had something to do with a pinched nerve as I have had a history of it in my family.

Im really worried now that I will have hemorrhoids and this cyst reccuring regularly, what can I do to stop it its very embarresing and it is affecting my self confidence.

Your doctor can’t diagnose it without seeing it. I am sure they have seen it a hundred times before. Yes, a pilonidal sinus can recur. No they aren’t linked although I have both. The pilonidal sinus is an indentation which occurs in the womb whilst the back is forming and sometimes becomes infected.

I smoke, I drink and recently have been suffering from enflamed hemorrhoids. They seem to only stop bothering me for days at a time and then *bam* they’re back. When reading on how to treat hemorrhoids I always see "stop smoking/stop drinking"…but I don’t see how either would effect hemorrhoids…so how does smoking or drinking "cause" hemorrhoids?

Because both have an effect on blood circulation.
